Advance Illinois will respond to ongoing shifts in local and national education data collection and reporting. This includes conducting a comprehensive inventory of federal education data systems and their alignment with current state-level efforts, with the goal of identifying strategies to maintain consistency and effectiveness across both levels.

All Chicago will support youth in taking an active leadership role in creating Chicago’s Coordinated Community Plan.

This project will analyze the growth of Education Studies programs, liberal arts degrees that do not confer teaching degrees, to assess their potential as entry points into teaching majors that yield teaching degrees. Findings will inform higher education leaders and policymakers, aiming to strengthen teacher pipelines and support institutional reform by Fall 2025.

Children Now will create a publicly accessible online resource hub that helps California’s non-profits navigate complex federal policy changes affecting young children. The hub will serve as a centralized, trusted source of timely and actionable information, leveraging the organization’s broad network of over 5,700 partners in The Children’s Movement of California. This initiative addresses a critical gap in the early childhood field, offering a scalable model for rapid-response information sharing during a time of uncertainty.

Kids First Chicago will partner with the parent-led Fair Governance Task Force to ensure that family voices shape decision-making during the historic transition to a fully elected Chicago Board of Education. Through community events and direct outreach, they will build relationships between parents and board members, share student- and parent-informed priorities, and support more inclusive, transparent governance across CPS.

The Latino Policy Forum will publish a rapid literature review on early childhood workforce quality to inform the development of Illinois’ new Department of Early Childhood. This time-sensitive project will provide research-based guidance and foster stakeholder consensus to ensure the new agency’s decisions are evidence-driven and equity-centered.

Funding will support the expanded launch of a state Teaching and Learning Collaborative (TLC) to help state education leaders navigate a shifting federal policy landscape, protect equity-focused initiatives, and sustain high-quality, whole child education strategies through strategic guidance, legal support, and collaborative action.

The Alliance for Quality Education is launching a statewide education listening tour in spring 2025 to engage marginalized communities across New York in shaping the future of public education, using Stone Foundation support to fund inclusive, on-the-ground events and data collection. This timely initiative will strengthen grassroots organizing, inform education policy with community-driven priorities, and serve as a model for equity-focused advocacy nationwide.

EdTrust-NY will analyze data and develop clear messaging to explain the complexity and impact of changes to New York State’s education funding formula. They will engage diverse audiences, including parents and policymakers, while collaborating with partners to align messaging and provide stakeholder presentations. These efforts aim to ensure policymakers understand how funding changes affect students and schools.

This project supports Justice Innovation ‘s Tribal Youth Fellowship Program to conduct research, engage the public, and create public policy recommendations and/or programmatic responses to improve how Native youth experience the justice system.

The Stone Scholarships will support pre-service teachers seeking to influence educational reform within multiple school system levels. Scholarships will be awarded to qualified teacher candidates committed to working in urban schools to provide tuition support, mentoring, professional development, and travel funds.

This grant will support leadership coaching and EdD program improvement to assess, monitor, and continue to deepen the extent to which UIC school leaders are strengthening their ability to diagnose and develop the adult SEL capacity in their schools which will, in turn, strengthen the SEL support for students. In addition, scale up our sharing of strategies and learnings with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) in a variety of ways that includes but is not limited to: engagement with the Office of Principal Quality, Office of Network Support (ONS), Office of Early Childhood, and most importantly the Executive Director of Social and Emotional Learning in the Office of College and Career Success (OCCS).
