Foundation Grantee Publishes Massachusetts Student Opportunity Act Progress Report
The goals of the Student Opportunity Act were expansive, and the final bill included a range of education policy initiatives. But above all else, the SOA aimed to dramatically increase the resources available for the highest need school districts across the state and create a data-driven structure to accurately assess how those resources were being used to close persistent disparities in student achievement. When the bill was signed into law, the state committed to reaching full implementation by Fiscal Year (FY) 2027. Now, more than halfway through that implementation schedule, the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation (MTF) is offering an assessment on the progress that has been made in meeting the primary objectives of the law.
