Getting to the W. Clement & Jessie V. Stone Foundation

We are located in the Presidio of San Francisco at 1016 Lincoln Blvd., in the Thoreau Center for Sustainability (Building 1016).

The Stone Foundation office is located on the 1st floor of Building 1016 in Suite #111.

Driving Directions to the Presidio

• From the SF Airport or the Peninsula/South Bay:
  Take US-101 North, watch for the Golden Gate Bridge exit.  Take US-101 North (on Van Ness Avenue). 
• From the East Bay:
  Take I-80 West (Bay Bridge), watch for Golden Gate Bridge exit.  Take US-101 North (on Van Ness Avenue).
  
• From downtown San Francisco:
  Take any westbound street to the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and Lombard Street. Where Van Ness intersects with Lombard Street, turn left and continue west on Lombard toward the Golden Gate Bridge.  Move into and stay in the far-left lane, and, after crossing Broderick Street (which is right after Divisadero), follow the left turn arrow, and continue straight ahead along Lombard Street.  Two blocks up, after a 4-way stop at Lyon Street, you’ll enter the Presidio through the Lombard Gate.
• From the North Bay (Marin): 
  After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, take the Downtown/Lombard Street exit.  Turn right at Lombard, and travel west into the Presidio through the Lombard Gate (at Lombard and Lyon Streets).

Inside the Presidio, to the Stone Foundation Office

• From Lombard Gate:
  Once you’ve entered the Presidio, proceed to a 3-way stop, and turn right onto Letterman Drive. Follow Letterman until it terminates at a 4-way stop sign.  Turn right onto Lincoln Blvd.  Almost immediately, you’ll see the Thoreau Center (Building 1016) to your right—the white complex with twin balconies in front.  Continue on Lincoln Blvd. just past the Thoreau Center and turn right onto Girard Rd.  Follow Girard Rd. around its right-hand curve and into the parking lot behind the Thoreau Center.  After parking, enter the building through the center double doors at the head of the parking lot and continue straight through another set of double doors, turning right when you pass the staircase.  Our office is the first door on the left-hand side of this corridor, Suite #111.  
• From the Arguello Gate (just beyond Arguello & Lake):
  Take Arguello and follow it all the way down to Moraga.  Make a right on Moraga and then an immediate left on Graham.  Proceed along Graham until you reach Lincoln Blvd. and make a right onto Lincoln.  At Girard Rd., turn left and follow Girard around its right-hand curve and into the parking lot behind the Thoreau Center.  After parking, enter the building through the center double doors at the head of the parking lot and continue straight through another set of double doors, turning right when you pass the staircase.  Our office is the first door on the left-hand side of this corridor, Suite #111.
• From the Presidio Gate (just past the intersection of Pacific and Presidio Avenue):
  Enter the Presidio Gate and follow Presidio Blvd. until you come to a 4-way stop that intersects with Letterman Drive, Lincoln Blvd., and incredibly, another Presidio Blvd. to your left. Proceed straight ahead through the intersection (Presidio Blvd. turns into Lincoln Blvd. at this point).  Almost immediately, you’ll see the Thoreau Center (Building 1016) to your right—the white complex with twin balconies in front.  Continue on Lincoln Blvd. just past the Thoreau Center and turn right onto Girard Rd.  Follow Girard Rd. around its right-hand curve and into the parking lot behind the Thoreau Center.  After parking, enter the building through the center double doors at the head of the parking lot and continue straight through another set of double doors, turning right when you pass the staircase.  Our office is the first door on the left-hand side of this corridor, Suite #111.

Via Taxi

If you are arriving via taxi, have the taxi drop you off in front of the Thoreau Center by turning right where Lincoln Blvd. meets Torney Avenue in front of the building.

Want to try Public Transportation?

Please be advised that parking lots in the Presidio fill up fast nowadays.  If you’re feeling adventurous, public transportation options are available:

• Muni Bus Line #43 runs through the Presidio, making a stop on Letterman Drive midway between the Stone Foundation’s office in Building 1016 and the Letterman Digital Arts Center.  The #43 Masonic runs along Lombard Street in the Marina District, Presidio  Avenue in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood, and Masonic Avenue in the Western Addition and the Haight.  For more detailed information about this route, visit www.sfmuni.com/php/routedesc.php?rted=43, or call the Stone Foundation office for assistance at (415) 561-6691.
• Another alternative is the free PresidiGo Shuttle service offered by the Presidio Trust to employees and residents of the Presidio. The Shuttle departs from downtown San Francisco, making 3 stops near the Transbay Terminal, the Embarcadero BART, and at the intersection of Van Ness & Union. Visitors to the Stone Foundation may obtain a temporary shuttle pass by calling our office in advance.
